Whoever you’re a beginner or expert, improving your design skills is something you much dedicate a little amount of time every day or even every week. Big companies are making changes on how we interact with users so to stay in the trend, we as a designer, much follow their trend and update our skills. Here’s some recommendation you can use to stay update and especially improve your design skills.

  • Follow Designers like You: Twitter, Facebook, or YouTube are the best place to go to follow creative people like you. They are always trying to improve themselves too by doing something new like designing a mobile app, Saas user interface, and many more. Don’t forget to browse through Dribbble or Behance, designers are doing things there too.
  • Subscribe to Design Blogs: Another way to be a better Designer, especially a UI designer is to subscribe to the blogs of famous companies, or even just blogs of websites like Dribble, Behance.
  • See what’s trending Every week or month, there’s a trending about specific design tools, design systems, or even how to design a better Saas Landing Page for example. You need to follow a theme, they will help you to understand or discover something new.
  • Take Online Challenges: They are plenty of design magazine & simple website around there offering a challenge every week or month and the best way to improve your self is to participate at one of them.
  • Master Your Tool: Learn how to use your design tool is another way to improve yourself. It doesn’t matter if it’s Figma, AdobeXD, Sketch,
  • Learn From Your Mistake: It’s not easy to figure out where you made a bad design or not but by asking people like you about your design, you will get good feedback to improve your design.
  • Take a Break: Don’t stay on your computer all day trying to make something very cool, It’s okay to take a break. Go outside, go walking and recharge your energy, it will help you.
  • Think Like The User: Ask yourself if the project you’re working, as a user you will use it or if for example, the color combination is useful.
